Dr. Leon Watkins
Dr. Watkins received his medical degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California and completed his surgical residency at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. Dr. Watkins is Chairman of the Division of Podiatry and Director of the Podiatric Residency Program at Tulane-Colombia Lakeside Hospital, Metairie, Louisiana. Dr. Watkins is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. His special interests include diabetic foot care and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Maria Markiewicz
Dr. Maria Markiewicz was born and raised in southeast Louisiana. She started her educational path by completing her undergraduate studies at Southeastern Louisiana University. Continuing her education, she completed her Podiatric training at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
She then moved back to Louisiana where she completed her training with a surgical residency program at Doctor’s Hospital of Jefferson, in Metairie, Louisiana. It was during her residency program that she first noticed the unique foot problems that men and women experience, which to this day, continues to be an interest to her.
Dr. Charles Caplis
Dr. Charles Caplis was born in Metairie, LA at Lakeside Hospital and raised in Shreveport/Bossier. He is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta medical honor society. He furthered his studies by attending Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, IL and was awarded Honors in the Department of Surgery. After receiving his doctorate degree, he successfully completed a three year podiatric medicine and surgical residency in Chicago, IL where he served as chief podiatry resident in 2007-2008. Dr. Caplis is excited to return to his home state of Louisiana after several years in private practice in Chicago, IL. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and specializes in routine podiatric medicine, sports medicine, forefoot and rearfoot corrective surgery, diabetic wound care and limb salvage. He, his wife, Erin and their son, Ethan are very happy to be closer to their family and warmer weather! Dr. Caplis enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying all that New Orleans and the Northshore have to offer, from dining to outdoor sports.
